Your network connects your workforce with the information they need to be productive. Its setup can determine how much your employees are able to accomplish each business day.

At Hi-Tech Digital, we’re experts in helping tri-state businesses design location-specific, cost-effective network infrastructure, diagnose network problems and implement network changes.

We provide a wide range of networking services. We work with you to ensure your wireless network connection is an effective tool for providing your employees, partners and customers with more flexible access to data. We give you the ability to move around the office – from your desk to a conference room to the patio of your building for lunch. We show you how your servers interact, set up Windows Active Directory, DNS and DHCP, and make sure your network is available through VPN. We help you determine which hardware and service options best meet your security, bandwidth and budget requirements, explaining your security options with different setups, helping you choose hardware with the right specs and ensuring that all of your laptops and mobile devices are connected.

In addition to initial setup and configuration, ongoing network monitoring is integral to maintaining a reliable, secure network for in-house employees and office visitors. We leverage cutting-edge tools and technology to watch network activity and ensure small issues are caught before they become big problems. On the off chance that network problems do arise, our team is alerted immediately and resolves it quickly. Often, we diagnose and repair the problem without it affecting you or your colleagues. We also work on an ongoing basis with your ISP provider to address outages and upgrades.

Network Infrastructure Q&A

How do you choose a network infrastructure solution that’s fast, reliable, secure and affordable?

Years of working with different vendors and setups give us a vast understanding of how to match business needs with affordable equipment. We will work with you to determine a solution that’s the right fit for your company. We always recommend investing in equipment providers that are established and commonly used because support and expertise are less expensive and more readily available.

What is the best choice, in terms of price and ability, for wireless routers?

Hardware varies dramatically in terms of cost and functionality—for example, from a Linksys wireless modem to a Cisco wireless device. The most fundamental difference is how robust and easy-to-use the features are, the power of the signal and how well it handles multiple connections. The more expensive devices tend to have more robust security features and stronger signals across multiple connections. But not all businesses require high level of wireless security, the strongest signal strength or multiple connects. For example, if you do not have data onsite or your data is not valuable to anyone else.  We work with you to determine which router is right for your business.

Heard of WEP 64 bit, 128 bit, WPA, EAP, TKIP and RSA? Do you know what they mean?

All of these terms refer to wireless encryptions standards. As long as all your devices support it, we recommend the WPA-AES standard. Some of the older types, like WEP 64bit and 128bit, are now easy to break. We are here to help you choose the right solution—one that’s secure and compatible with your equipment. We also keep you up-to-date with changes to security standards and requirements.
